Giant's causeway. Don't miss Northern Ireland's only UNESCO World Heritage site: 40 000 hexagonal basalt columns rising out of the sea to form a breathtaking city of rocks. According to legend, the Causeway was a product of a contest between two giants from Ireland and Scotland. The drive up the Antrim Coast is spectacular and the Giant's Causeway itself is one of the most amazing natural sites in Europe. Call into the nearby Bushmills whiskey distillery for a guided tour.
Portaferry. At around 40 minutes' driving distance from Belfast, the pretty tow of Portaferry makes a perfect day trip. Situated at the tip of the Ards Peninsula, there are lots of beautiful coastal walks.
